Manifestations

When I watched the Secret movie something clicked in me. I began to take notes on what I saw and to put some of it into action. One of the things mentioned in the movie is a vision board. Basically, a vision board is just a collage of your intentions, the things you intend to happen in your life. It can consist of pictures, quotes, words, whatever you choose.

I went to Walgreens, bought a poster board and began printing out pictures of things I intended for my life. One of the things was to visit New York. Now this might not be a big deal to some but to me it was. I have been trying to get there for over 10 years and for various reasons did not go. Once I decided that I wanted to visit NYC I needed to find a way to get there, i.e, the money. I wasn't sure how I was going to pull it all together. Now, this is the manifestation that I said I'd discuss in my earlier blog post.

So, I put a picture of NYC on my board along with the words new york city. I also put the words, "I will have $500 extra dollars by such and such date..." (don't remember the date now). Almost daily I would look at my vision board, and visualize myself sipping coffee in a cafe in NYC, going to an art museum or visiting Greenwich Village. On one particular morning, I got up, did my morning workout and began to do a cool down. I remembered that I needed to pay my rent and I also remembered that my building management had sent me some payment coupons to include along with my rent payment. So, I decided to look at my vision board for a few minutes, visualize my trip to NYC and then open the stuff from my building management. When I opened the envelope I almost collapsed! There was a check for $915 in the envelope along with the payment coupons for the rent. Since my old management had sold the building my new management company was refunding security deposits now instead of holding on to them! It might not seem like a lot to some but it floored me. I was going to NYC with more money than I had expected.

One thing I noticed about this manifestation is that while I put it on my vision board and visualized it regularly, I did not focus on it all the time. Actually, right before I manifested I had starting to forget about it and focus on my other intentions and goals. It was right when I had forgotten about NYC that I manifested NYC. I say this to say, that while we want to manifest our intentions, we must find a way to detach from them as well. And by detach, I do not mean you don't care about them. You care about your intentions and you still know that they will come to fruition but you don't cling to them. My understanding of detachment is you know that your intentions are ON THEIR WAY, and this faith allows you to go with the flow of life and not dwell on your intentions, grasping them out of fear that they will not occur.
